This desert place

Nourishes my soul,

Feeds my sagebrush dreams

Amid stories of totems old.

Lizard slips away on tiny, reptile feet.

Snake rattles and dances across warm, dirt roads.

Raven watches.

Coyote howls, laughs at the moon,

Playing tag with midnight friends.

Night sky hands me stars

On a silken lined buffet of brilliance.

I am full to bursting!

I explode into everything!

I am maiden, mother and crone.

I dance with what is

And form the world before me

With aging hands.

Raven nods a magical, black head, watching.

Here in this place, I am free--

A desert flower,

Blooming

This land that nurtures me.
